Embroidered Artworks
Hand embroidered artworks inspired by nature
Jo is a hand embroidery artist creating unique intricately stitched artworks inspired by her love of flowers.
Whether it is quintessentially British gardens, wild flower meadows, individual blooms or the architectural forms of seedheads, she aims to capture them in her distinctive style.
Every embroidered flower border and meadow is meticulously made, starting with her painted watercolour backgrounds, then with each stitch, layers of soft colours and texture are added to create depth and capture her impressionistic style.
Jo uses a carefully selected range of background fabrics, embroidery cottons and hand dyed silk ribbons in her work along with great care in the colour palate to blend the flowers in each artwork as a gardener does with a planting scheme.
Jo's wish is for the customer to see the flowers first and then to realise that the artwork is hand embroidered. This means care is taken to reproduce the form of the flowers to ensure they are recognisable.
